Underwater,
a microbe emerged,
unaware that our tilted Earth–
might lean on it for Life.
(you, me, the fish, the trees, the honey bees…)
Domains constructed:
And what was the composer’s plan?
Before we knew the Earth,
Earth knew itself.
Its hands; orchestrating the tiniest glitches,
even in the greatest depth of the Seas.
Its hymns as it spins, those sounds in sync,
becoming each cell’s anthem…
We met bacteria’s criteria and learned,
Haven’t we always leaned on each other?
Cut from the same cloth,
woven by nature.
(you, me, the fish, the trees, the honey bees…)
We have always contained
the life of Other, while the
Other has helped maintain that life in us.
We are this young and we have named
those things that gave us shape,
now we shape those things and give them names–
L.U.C.A (Last Universal Common Ancestor).
How often do we decode what we’ve
carried through time? All of nature
instinctively sings… the same music
of our DNA.
The story of us,
the story of one.
